A Festive Evening of Music at St Peter’s

St Peter’s Church was filled with warmth, music and Christmas cheer for the  Candle Light Concert on 15th December 2025, when we were delighted to welcome St Mary’s Chamber Choir for a very special festive concert. The church was full to capacity as friends, family and parishioners gathered for an  evening of seasonal celebration.

Under the expert direction of Steve Cooper, the choir delivered  an uplifting programme, capturing  the joy and reflective spirit of Advent. The singing was enhanced by the sensitive and accomplished accompaniment of Oliver Clarke, whose musicianship added depth and sparkle to the performance.

The audience responded with  enthusiasm, thoroughly enjoying the evening and showing their appreciation with warm applause.

Mince pies and mulled wine were served after the concert,  giving everyone the chance to chat and continue the festive fellowship. The event was a wonderful reminder of the role that music plays in bringing people together and  enriching parish life.

Our sincere thanks go to St Mary’s Chamber Choir, Steve Cooper and Oliver Clarke for providing such a memorable evening, and to all who helped (and baked) to make the event such a success.

Festive treats shared with Bridgnorth Food Bank 2025

The true spirit of Christmas was on display recently when Avis Butler and Gary Timmins kindly delivered a collection of festive bags of sweets to Bridgnorth Food Bank, where they will be distributed to local

children in time for Christmas.

The colourful bags were put together with great care and generosity, thanks to donations from parishioners of St Peter’s Church and residents of the Bradeney House bungalows. Over the past weeks, sweets were collected and then packaged into cheerful, festive bags, each one intended to bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.

Avis and Gary ensured the precious cargo reached the food bank safely, where it was warmly received and will now be shared with families who may be finding the season a little more challenging. Their help in delivering the bags was very much appreciated and helped turn everyone’s generosity into practical support for the local community.

This wonderful initiative is a reminder of how small acts of kindness, when shared by many, can make a big difference.

Thank you to everyone who donated, packed, and delivered the sweets, and  helped St Peter’s Church and the Bradeney House community spread Christmas joy to children across Bridgnorth.

A Huge Thank You to Our Churchyard Champions!

What a wonderful sight it was to see so many helping hands at our recent Churchyard Tidy-Up Day! From the early risers armed with rakes, power tools and wheelbarrows to the keen gardeners tackling the weeds with gusto, everyone played a part in giving our beautiful churchyard a well-deserved spruce-up.

Thanks to your hard work, the grounds are looking better than ever – neat paths, trimmed borders, and a newly cleared perimeter wall that once again shows off the church in all its glory. It was truly heartwarming to see parishioners and villagers of all ages come together, sharing laughter, tea, bacon butties and the occasional slice of cake as we worked side by side in sunshine and light showers.

A special word of thanks to those who brought tools, refreshments, and good humour in equal measure – and to the organisers who made sure everything ran smoothly.

Your community spirit and care for our church surroundings make such a difference.

Together, we’ve created a space that’s welcoming not only for visitors and worshippers, but also for the wildlife who share it with us.

Here’s to keeping our churchyard looking lovely – and to many more cheerful mornings spent working (and chatting!) together.

With heartfelt thanks to all who turned out to help.

Sparkling Evening at the Worfield Proms! 🎶✨

What a night we had on Saturday 6th September! St Peter’s Church was alive with music, laughter, and plenty of flag-waving cheer as the Worfield Proms returned in style.

We were treated to the fantastic sounds of the Highley Village Band, who opened the evening with a dazzling programme of James Bond classics. From the iconic 007 theme to the big, bold ballads we all know and love, the first half had us tapping our feet and humming along.

Then came the all-important interval – and what a treat it was! Delicious homemade cakes, savoury nibbles, and a glass of bubbly gave everyone a chance to relax, chat, and soak up the lovely community atmosphere.

The second half brought out the true Proms spirit. Flags were waving, voices were raised, and smiles were everywhere, as we joined in with all the favourites. The highlight was, of course, a rousing Rule Britannia sung with great gusto by the Bands soloist – a moment that filled the church with joy and pride.

It was an evening to remember: full of music, fellowship, and good fun. A huge thank you to the band, soloist, organisers, and everyone who baked, poured, or pitched in to make the night such a success.

Roll on next year – we can’t wait!
